LISBON ARCHITECTURE
TRIENNALE: TERRA

Terra, the 6th edition of the Lisbon Architecture Triennale, ran from 29 September to 5 December 2022 under the curatorship of Cristina Veríssimo and Diogo Burnay. Across several Lisbon institutions, it presented four exhibitions, a conference series, publications, awards, and independent projects, positioning architecture as a conscious and situated practice.

The exhibitions formed the programme’s core. Multiplicity explored architecture’s response to crises and inequality. Retroactive addressed infrastructures as urban sutures in fractured territories. Cycles focused on waste and resource flows as engines for circular design. Visionaries highlighted radical ideas and alternative futures.

Through Talk, Talk, Talk international experts debated these themes, while a set of publications and three awards expanded the Triennale’s reach. Terra marked a shift from the city as machine to the city as organism, calling for circular systems and affirming architecture’s role in shaping sustainable and just futures.
